KALANCHOE THYRSIFLORA

Origen: Sudáfrica

Este kalanchoe es una planta monocárpica, es decir, muere después de florecer, lo que puede llevarle entre dos y cuatro años. Normalmente antes de morir produce hijuelos en su base (ver fotografías).

Esta recubierta de un polvillo parecido a la harina que protege a la planta del exceso de sol, reflejando los rayos solares.

Se reproduce por semillas, por esquejes de hoja (arrancadas con un trocito de tronco) o transplantando los hijuelos que nacen en la base de la planta.

Sólo soporta heladas muy débiles.

This kalanchoe is a monocarpic plant, that means that the plant dies after flowering, and that can take between two and four years. It usually produces offsets before dying (see pictures)

The full plant is covered by a dust that looks like flour. This white floury coating on the leaves and inflorescence helps to reflect the sun away, keeping the plant cool.

Propagation is from seeds, from leaf cuttings (with a small piece of stem attached to the leaf) or from offsets.

It withstands only light frosts.
