DIANTHERA NODOSA (sin. Justicia brasiliana)

Es un pequeño arbusto que puede crecer hasta un metro de altura, aunque fuera de climas tropicales no suele superar el medio metro. Conocida como Dianthera nodosa, parece ser que su nombre científico más correcto es hoy Justicia brasiliana, al haber sido encuadrada dentro del género Justicia. También puede encontrársela como Justicia nodosa, pero este nombre es incorrecto. En los países anglosajones es conocida como "Lady in pink": "Dama de rosa".
Prefiere situaciones en semisombra, bajo la copa de árboles o arbustos grandes.
Se reproduce con facilidad por esquejes.
Sólo soporta heladas muy débiles.

It´s a little shrub that grows to a metre tall, althought outside tropical areas it gets half this size. Usually known as Dianthera nodosa now Justicia brasiliana appears to be the correct scientific denomination, since it has been reclassified in Justicia genus. Also can be found as Justicia nodosa but this appears to be incorrect.
It prefers semi-shade locations.
Propagation is easy by cuttings.
It withstands only very light frosts.

ResponderEliminarI picked up a little small plant of this species in a green house in Paris, but since the plant is still rather small, hasn't bloom yet, I am not sure about the identification.
If I can post a photo to show you, it would be great to confirm or infirm if it's Justicia brasiliana or not.
