PARKINSONIA ACULETATA
Origen: desde el suroeste de EE.UU. hasta el norte de Sudamérica
Es un arbolito semiperenne que puede alcanzar unos 7 metros de altura.
Es nativo de áreas semidesérticas de México y del suroeste de los EE.UU. desde donde se ha extendido a muchas partes del mundo dada su rusticidad y resistencia a la sequía.
Muy adaptado a condiciones áridas puede perder todas las hojas para minimizar la pérdida de agua y continúa haciendo la fotosíntesis con el tejido verde de la corteza del tronco. De ahí su nombre de "palo verde".
Se reproduce por semillas.
Resiste heladas débiles sin problemas.

It´s a semideciduous little tree that may grow to 7 metres tall.
It´s native to arids areas of Mexico an Southwerstern USA, naturalized in other continents due to its rusticity and drought resistance. Well adapted to lack of water, it can lose all its leaves to reduce evaporation and
transpiration, producing its food instead within the photosynthetic green tissue of
the bark.
Propagation is by seeds.
It withstands lights frosts without problems.
