PERESKIA GRANDIFOLIA

Las especies del género pereskia son cactus aunque no lo parecen porque tienen hojas. También tienen espinas, pero éstas crecen bajo el punto de nacimiento de las hojas por lo que quedan ocultas por éstas.
Es un cactus de origen tropical por lo que sus necesidades hídricas son superiores a las de los cactus normales.
Soporta sólo heladas muy débiles.
Se reproduce por semillas (en Recregarden no lo hemos intentado) o por esquejes (bastante fácil).

Species of "pereskia" genus are cacti but they don´t seem like that because they have leaves. They also have thorns but they grow from the underside of the petioles and at first sight they are hidden under the leaves.
It´s a tropical cactus so it needs more water than "traditional" cacti.
It withstands only very light frosts.
Propagation is from seed (not tried yet in Recregarden) or from cuttings (quite easy).
