EUPHORBIA TIRUCALLI

Origen: Amplia distribución en Africa (principalmente Noreste, Centro y Sureste), Islas adyacentes y Península Arábiga. Introducida en otras regiones tropicales. 

Es un arbusto o pequeño arbolito que, en ubicaciones ideales, puede alcanzar más de 10 metros de altura. Muy ramificado, con tallos cilíndricos de color verde. Las hojas son muy pequeñas y caen en la estación seca para evitar la pérdida de agua. La planta realiza la fotosíntesis a través de los tallos. 

La savia es muy tóxica y puede producir irritaciones graves. Esta savia se usa en medicina tradicional y parece ser que es posible destilar un equivalente de la gasolina de ella. 

Se reproduce fácilmente por esquejes. 

Sólo soporta heladas muy débiles y cortas.

it´s a shrub or little tree that, under ideal conditions, can grow to more than 10 metres tall. It has many succulent, green, cylindrical branchlets with few leaves only present at the tips of young branchlets, quickly deciduous. 

Its milky latex is highly toxic and may produce severe irritations. It´s used in traditional medicine. This latex can be converted to the equivalent of gasoline. 

Propagation is easy by cuttings. 

It only withstands very little and short frosts.
