LEUCHTENBERGIA PRINCIPIS

Origen: Norte y centro de México. 

Este extraño cactus se parece más a un aloe o ágave que a un cactus. 

Crece muy lentamente hasta alcanzar un máximo de 70 cm de altura, desarrollando con el tiempo un pequeño tallo cuya superficie recuerda al corcho. Muy raramente desarrolla estolones.  

Flores diurnas de gran tamaño y color amarillo.

Muy sensible a la pudrición, necesita un suelo muy drenado y escaso riego. Ninguno en invierno. 

Soporta heladas débiles si se mantiene seco. 

Se reproduce por semillas.

Origin: North and Central Mexico. 

This strange cactus resembles an aloe or agave, more than a cactus. 

It grows very slowly to a maximum of 70 cm high, developing with time a short, corky stem. It rarely develops offsetts. 

Flowers are big, diurnal and yellow.

It needs a good drainage since it´s prone to rot. No water at all in winter. 

It withstands light frosts if kept completely dry. 

Propagation is by seeds.
