La digital o dedalera es una planta herbácea bianual o vivaz de corta vida muy utilizada en jardinería.
La dedalera es, normalmente, una planta bianual. En su primer año de vida no florece, haciéndolo el segundo. Puede vivir algún año más y florecer alguna vez más, pero la floración importante es la del segundo año. Las flores tienen forma de dedo (digitalis) o dedal, de ahí sus nombres.
Prefiere temperaturas templadas, suelo húmedo y semisombra.
Se reproduce fácilmente por semillas. Se naturaliza con facilidad pero no es invasiva.
Sus hojas contienen una poderosa droga, la digitalina, utilizada desde el siglo XVIII para la arritmia y otros problemas cardiacos. El margen de seguridad entre la dosis terapéutica y la dosis fatal es muy estrecho por lo que su uso como remedio "natural" es muy desaconsejable.

Propagation is easy by seeds. Selfseeds easily but it´s not invasive.
Its leaves contain a powerful drug used for heart failure, so it´s very toxic for humans an some animals.
