ACALYPHA WILKESIANA

Origen: Islas del Pacífico.

Es un arbusto siempreverde que puede alcanzar 3 metros de altura y 2 metros de ancho.

Se cultiva por sus hojas, de color verde-cobre con bordes variegados. Existen cultivares con hojas de diferentes colores y formas.

Sus flores son inconspicuas. Los sexos están en flores separadas pero en la misma planta. En la fotos muestro flores femeninas (primero) y luego las masculinas.  

Se reproduce por esquejes.

Prefiere climas cálidos con alta humedad ambiental.

Sólo soporta heladas muy débiles y por poco tiempo.

Common name: Copper Leaf, Beefsteak Plant.

It´s a perennial shrub that may reach 3 metres tall and 2 metres wide.

It´s grown by its copper-green variegated leaves. There are many cultivars with many leaf forms and colors.

Flowers are inconspicuos. It has separate male and female flowers but in the same plant. In the pictures we show female flowers (first) and then male ones. 

Propagation is by stem cuttings.

It withstands only very light frosts.
