RUSSELIA EQUISETIFORMIS (Sin. Russelia juncea)

Es un subarbusto que forma largos tallos casi sin hojas, con porte colgante, por lo que esta planta se usa en cestas colgantes, taludes, etc, para potenciar este efecto.

En Recregarden se "autoreproduce" muy bien mediante acodo, pues los tallos cuando tocan el suelo tienen facilidad para enraizar.

Las flores son normalmente rojas, pero existe una variedad de flores amarillas.

Los tallos casi no tienen hojas y se parecen a los de la "cola de caballo" (equisetum), de ahí su nombre científico.

Soporta bien heladas débiles.

Common name: coral plant, coral fountain, firecracker plant.

Subshrub with slender stems nearly leafleft and hanging habits, so it´s used in hanging baskets or spilling over a wall.

In Recregarden it propagates itself by simple layering, yet stems root easily when they touch the ground.

Flowers are usually red, hence its common name, but there is a cultivar with yellow ones.
Stems are nearly leafless and resembles to "horsetail" ones (equisetum), hence its common name.
It withstands light frosts without problems.
