CEROPEGIA SANDERSONII

Origen: Mozambique, Sudáfrica y Swazilandia. 

Es una planta trepadora siempreverde, con tallos débiles de hábitos rastreros que se "enroscan" para trepar. Tiene hojas suculentos acorazonadas.  Puede alcanzar varios metros de longitud. 

Lo más característico son sus flores, de color amarillo verdoso con pequeñas manchas verdes. Tienen un tubo en forma de embudo al final del cual hay cinco pétalos fusionados que crean pequeñas "ventanitas" en la flor. Dentro del tubo hay pequeños pelos que evitan que los insectos escapen hasta que la planta está polinizada. Una vez que la flor está polinizada los pelos se debilitan y el insecto puede escapar. Por la forma de sus flores recibe los nombres de planta paracaídas o planta sombrilla. 

Necesita condiciones cálidas y semisombra, riegos escasos y sólo en la temporada cálida. No soporta las heladas. 

Se reproduce por esquejes.

It´s an evergreen, slender twiner with weak stems and postrate habits. It has succulentt heart-shaped leaves.

It has distinctive greenish white funnel-shaped flowers placed on a stalk. The tips of the flowers don´t separate so they form an umbrella-like dome on the flowers, with little "windows"on the sides. They act as little traps: small hairs that point downwards prevent the insect from escaping. Once trapped, the fly is thoroughly covered in pollen and only released when the flower reaches the end of its life and the hairs weaken.

It needs warm growing conditions, semi-shade and little water and just in growing season.

It doesn´t withstand frosts. 

Propagation is by cuttings.
