La popular "corona de espinas" o "espina de Cristo" es una arbusto espinoso que, según los cultivares, crece entre un metro y metro y medio.
Existen numerosos cultivares con bracteas (no confundir con las flores que son diminutas e insignificantes) de color rojo, naranja, rosado o amarillo.
La savia, como la de todas las euforbiaceas, es tóxica y puede producir irritaciones en la piel.
Se reproduce fácilmente por esquejes cuya punta hay que dejar secar durante unos días.
Sólo soporta heladas muy ligeras y breves y con tiempo seco.

It´s a spiny shrub that, depending on cultivar, grow to one metre or metre and a half tall.
There are many cultivars with bracts (true flowers are very small and inconspicuous) from red-orange to pinky or yellow.
Sap is toxic and may produce skin irritation.
Propagation is easy by tip cuttings, leaving them to dry out first.
It withstands only very light, short and "dry" frosts.
